The American Language Center is located in Westwood Village, one of the most attractive and safest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Westwood is the gateway to UCLA's expansive campus and offers restaurants, shops, cinemas, and other attractions for students and the nearby community. The ALC is only minutes away by bus from Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and the Pacific Ocean. You can also enjoy outdoor sports and recreation year round with LA's mild and sunny climate.
Instructor's Qualifications:
The majority of ALC instructors have Master's degrees in teaching English to speakers of other languages and a wide variety of teaching experience. Having this experience, ALC teachers are sensitive to the needs of international students and readily make themselves available to listen to students’ concerns and offer advice.
Programs Available
Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP)
Focus of Study: Designed for participants of 18 years of age or older, the AIEP serves two types of students: those who plan to enter an American college or university and those who plan to study English for personal or professional reasons, using a rigorous, academic approach.
Curriculum: Core classes include grammer, reading and writing taught at all levels. Elective classes are chosen by students at the high-intermediate and advanced levels according to their interests and goals. Elective classes may include TOEFL preparation, Business Communications, American Slang, English through drama, etc. After-school Computer lab with internet access available.

Intensive English Communication Program (IECP)
Focus of Study: Designed for participants 18 years of age or older, IECP specializes in English for day-to-day communication as well as improvement for professional purposes.
Curriculum: Mornings: Students choose topics from a wide range of classes, such as TV and the Media, Popular Culture, and Out and About in L.A. Afternoons: Students participate in focused instruction and skills practice in pronunciation, accent reduction, listening comprehension, grammer, and conversation. iBT TOEFL preparation is available for high intermediate and advanced students.
